Dr. Nam-Sung Woo
Executive Vice President, System LSI Division
Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd.
Dr. Woo has led the mobile solutions business of Samsung Semiconductor's SLSI Division since 2004. His team develops both chipsets and software for mobile devices, including application processors, mobile TV chipsets, wireless communication chipsets and image sensor chips.
Before joining Samsung, Dr. Woo worked for Texas Instruments as general manager of a wireless business unit. He also spent ten years as a research scientist at AT&T/Lucent Bell Laboratories. His area of expertise includes computer architecture, parallel processing and VLSI design/synthesis. He has published more than 50 papers for journals and international conferences, and has five U.S. patents. He received the "best paper" award at an IEEE Design Automation Conference.
Dr. Woo received a BSEE from Seoul National University, an MSEE from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Maryland. |

Sean Wargo
Director of Industry Analysis
Consumer Electronics Association
Sean Wargo is the director of industry analysis at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). He serves as manager of both the data production and analysis sides of CEA's shipment data program entitled Market Activity Reports and Analysis (MARA). He also acts as a resident industry expert in CE, speaking and writing about industry products and trends based on consumer research, manufacturer shipment data and hands-on research. He assists CEA by generating shipment sales forecasts and handling media and financial analyst requests relating to industry performance. Wargo has appeared in countless media outlets, including CNET, CNN and The Wall Street Journal.
He has more than 10 years of experience working in the technology sector with the bulk of it spent as an analyst/ researcher covering retail and distribution trends for various CE and IT products. He has focused on electronic entertainment categories, including digital media, video games, PCs and the Internet. Before joining CEA, he was employed at PC Data/NPD Intelect as senior analyst developing in-depth market reports and newsletters based on Internet tracking, survey and POS retail sales data, as well as performing advanced statistical analysis. He also spent time managing research projects at several smaller research firms where he utilized various quantitative and qualitative research techniques. He graduated from the University of Vermont and received his MBA from George Mason University.

George M. Scalise
President
Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA)
George M. Scalise is president of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), where he directs a staff focused on International Trade & Government Affairs, Workforce, Technology, Environmental Safety & Health, and Communications.
Mr. Scalise came to the SIA from Apple Computer, where he served as executive vice president of operations. Prior to that, he held executive management positions at National Semiconductor, Maxtor Corporation, Advanced Micro Devices, Fairchild Semiconductor and Motorola Semiconductor.
A graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, Mr. Scalise is a highly respected technology industry spokesperson with special interest and expertise in technology, international trade, and competition issues. He was a founding member of the Semiconductor Research Corporation, an industry-funded organization that provides resources for pre-competitive semiconductor research at American universities.
Mr. Scalise currently serves on President George W. Bush's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology as well as numerous boards, including Cadence Design Systems, Intermolecular, and iSuppli Corporation. He has also served as chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and been on the boards of SEMATECH, Semiconductor Research Corporation, the Bay Area Economic Forum, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations Economic Task Force on Japan. He participates on advisory committees at the College of Engineering at Purdue University and is a member of the California Council on Science and Technology Fellows Program. He served on the advisory committees at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University and the School of Engineering at the University of Southern California. He was named a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus of Purdue University in 2002. He also chaired the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board, U.S. Department of Energy.

Bryan Burns
VP, Strategic Business Planning and Development
ESPN HD
Bryan Burns was named vice president, strategic business planning and development in April 2000. With ESPN since 1996, he most recently served as vice president, distribution development.
Mr. Burns currently heads up the company's high-definition services, ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD. He has been an integral part of the creation of the two services from business planning prior to the announcement of ESPN HD in 2002 to the flip of the switch of ESPN2 HD in January 2005. Mr. Burns is also charged with directing the growth of high-definition telecasts within ABC Sports programming.
During his time with ESPN, Mr. Burns has been responsible for the conception of a wide variety of ESPN's video products, including ESPN Game Plan, the company's pay-per-view product for college football, ESPN FULL COURT for college basketball, and MLS/ESPN Shootout for major-league soccer. He designed ESPN Today, ESPN NOW and ESPN EXTRA, video and interactive channels for digital cable and the expanded capacity of direct broadcast satellite carriers. Mr. Burns also was responsible for ESPN's special markets efforts to non-residential distributors such as commercial establishments and hotels plus the company's overall relationships with DIRECTV and Echostar.
Mr. Burns came to ESPN from The Paragon Alliance, a consulting firm he founded in 1992, following sixteen years in professional sports team management. His 16-year major-league baseball career included seven years as senior vice president of MLB, where his responsibilities included handling worldwide television operations and overseeing special events such as the World Series, League Championship Series, and the All-Star Game. Mr. Burns also served as director of marketing and broadcasting for the Kansas City Royals from 1974-1983. At Comsat Video Enterprises from 1990-1992, he oversaw negotiations for the major sporting and special events included in the company's Satellite Cinema and On Command Video pay-per-view services.
Mr. Burns was recognized by CableFAX in the 2003, 2004 and 2005 CableFAX 100, profiling "cable's 100 heavy hitters." In 2004, he was inducted into the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers (DTV Academy), a select group of individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development, success and promotion of digital television.
Mr. Burns is a graduate of Central Missouri State University, where he received a bachelor of science in communications.

Brian H. Berkeley
Vice President of Advanced Technology
Samsung Electronics LCD Business
Brian H. Berkeley is Vice President for Advanced Technology within Samsung's LCD Business in Tangjeong, Korea. He joined Samsung Electronics in 2003, where his current work includes responsibility for development of advanced liquid crystal driving technologies.
Berkeley worked at Apple Computer for 20 years, starting as a display engineer on the original Macintosh. He led hardware development on the first iMac computer, and ran Apple's display and hardware I/O engineering. His display innovations include first use of in-line gun CRTs in a monitor application, putting color onto the Macintosh platform, development of the world's first high volume LCD monitor, and responsibility for development of the industry's first wide-format desktop and notebook LCD displays. He holds patents on hardware and I/O technologies, and is author or co-author of over a dozen technical articles on information display.
Berkeley is a Senior Member of the Society for Information Display, has been active with the SID Program Committee since 1992, has served as Program Chair and General Chair of the annual SID International Symposium, and is currently serving as SID's Secretary.
He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T, and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University. |

Joe Menard

Joe Menard is a Corporate Vice President within AMD's Computational Products Group. He is responsible for software engineering, alliance management of commercial and consumer partnerships, and the definition and engineering of computing solutions for consumers, including AMD LIVE! Digital Home Solutions.
Before joining AMD, Menard was founder, chairman and CEO of WebGain, Inc., a privately held provider of Java software for Fortune 500 companies. Prior to that he was with BEA Systems where he held several leadership positions including general manager of the E-Commerce Server Division, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, and senior vice president of sales, EMEA. Before joining BEA, Menard lead the TUXEDO Systems division at Novell. Previous to this role, he was vice president of marketing at Unix System Laboratories, and spent 10 years at Digital Equipment Corporation in a variety of senior product management, product marketing, and program management jobs. He started his career as an electrical engineer at Raytheon.
Menard holds a master's degree in business administration from Babson College, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. |

Don Barnetson

Behrooz Abdi

Behrooz Abdi is currently senior vice president and general manager for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies, where he is responsible for managing day-to-day business for the division.
Mr. Abdi has more than twenty years of semiconductor industry experience, starting with a career in integrated circuit design at Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector. While at Motorola, his responsibilities expanded into various functional areas of engineering and operational management within data communication and wireless businesses. In 2000, he took charge of the RF and mixed-signal IC business for the wireless mobile market as vice president and general manager for the radio products division, where he led the company to a market-leading position. Mr. Abdi then joined QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies in 2004, bringing his expansive industry knowledge and significant experience to the established leader in wireless semiconductor products.
Mr. Abdi holds a BSEE from Montana State University and an MSEE from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also holds several patents, with more pending, in communication systems and circuit design and has several publications to his name. Mr. Abdi has lectured internationally in the area of communication systems and ICs, and has been the keynote speaker at numerous conferences addressing the mobile market and technology. He was the recipient of the 1993 Motorola Distinguished Innovator Award.

Ana Molnar Hunter

Jon Kang

Jon Kang is senior vice president of technical marketing for Samsung Semiconductor's Memory Division. In this position, he is responsible for setting memory strategy and development directions. He has worked in the semiconductor industry for more than 20 years.
Mr. Kang joined Samsung Semiconductor as a technologist working on process integration in 1983 after receiving his electrical engineering degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has been involved in various key development projects during his long career at Samsung that have resulted in Samsung being the leader in memory technology.

John Cerrato
